How Low Can You Poem?

There once was a genial ghost/Who raised up his glass in a toast:/”Here’s to that dandy/Invention called candy;/As a true Spook I’m entitled to it most!”

Tell us spooky tales/Talk of ghost and ghoul/We love when she regales/Us with stories dark and cruel/Speak of haunted houses/Demented demons, too/Let us gobble goblins/When she serves up Horror Stew/But we’ll run screaming to our Dads/at any political ads

A lovely young lady named Carrie
Decided to try something scary
She thought it’d be neat
To peel shrimp with her feet
And it was – till she caught beriberi

Death drives a Comet
Black, like bones
Blackened by the sun
Black like dried blood

Death offers me a ride
Vinyl seats the color of hellfire
Tires scared to whitewall
Fingerbones for ornaments

Because I would not stop for Death
Death sent an Uber

I’m scared
Why, what’s so scary
Everything
Everything scares me
Everything scars me
Scary things everywhere
Scarred me for life
Fear skulks
Terror stalks me
Terrifying talk of skulls
13 ghosts are 12 too many
Death takes a holiday
But fear never rests

Halloween is here
My favorite time of year
A time of dread and fear
With ghosts and goblins near

When your name is Vincent Price
Halloween seems rather nice
A day of dread to add some spice
A fact you needn’t tell me twice

What will I be doing that day?
I can’t say!

I guess I’m just not Halloweeny;
My idea of frightening is teeny.
What I think is scary
To most folks ain’t very,
‘Til I show ’em my old hollow wienie!
